Networked Printers and Copiers

IITS manages and maintains networked printers and copiers on campus through our print server, PAINE (after the famous Quaker, Thomas Paine).

For instructions on how to install these printers please click one of the links below.

Support for the printers should be directed to the ProDesk at prodesk@haverford.edu or (610) 896-1480.

All of our networked printers are covered through a hardware and supply contract with Innovative Printing Systems (IPS). Any supplies needed for printers should be ordered directly through Central Services at hc-centralservices@haverford.edu.

HP copiers that utilize a Pharos release station are managed separately through our Pharos server and require special configuration.

January 2019 update

As of January 2019 all campus copiers have been updated.  In order to connect to the new machine follow the steps below first.  If you have any issues or questions please contact the ProDesk for assistance.

Windows:
  1. In the search bar on the bottom left of your screen type Printers and Scanners and click the top option.
  2. This will list all printers on your device.  Find the old Copier and select it
  3. Click remove device.
  4. Then follow the link below to add the new copier.
Macintosh
  1. Click System Preferences on your dock or search
  2. Click Printers and Scanners
  3. Select the old Copier and click the minus sign below them to remove
  4. Then follow the link below to add the new copier.

Networked Printing from Windows Systems

Networked printers should only be utilized by Windows systems that are connected to Haverford’s QUAKER Domain. All college-owned laptops and desktops should be connected to QUAKER, if you find this is not the case with your machine please contact the ProDesk at prodesk@haverford.edu or (610) 896-1480.

The printers are categorized by the building name and location where they reside on our print server, PAINE (after the famous Quaker, Thomas Paine). Please utilize only those printers to which you have permission to print.

To connect to a networked printer go to the start menu:

  1. Go to your Start Menu and click in the Search field.
  2. Type \\paine.quaker.haverford.edu
  3. Press the “Enter” key.
  4. Find the printer you wish to add and double click on it.
  5. Once the printer installs, that printer’s queue window will open.
  6. To make it your default printer, right click on Printer and choose Set as Default Printer.

Networked Printing from Macintosh Systems

  1. Download. Download the corresponding printer from the list provided.
    1. If you are connecting to a copier please download and run the package here first.  You should only need to run the package named “1”.  New copier drivers
  2. Unzip. Double-click the file you just downloaded to “unzip” the files.

Note:   When adding new printers you may be prompted to allow the install based on your security Preference for downloads.  If prompted you can find that here: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General >  Open Anyway
