Accessing Filestore

On a PC

Single Use Access:

  1. Right-click on the Windows Start menu and left-click on Run to select it.
  2. In the Folder box, type:  \\filestore.haverford.edu
        Note:  be sure to use the correct backslash key
  3. Click the OK button.
  4. Double-click the desired share.

OR

Create a Shortcut or Mapping:

  1. Right-click on the Windows Start menu and left-click on Run to select it.
  2. In the Folder box, type:  \\filestore.haverford.edu
        Note:  be sure to use the correct backslash key
  3. Click the OK button.
  4. Double-click the desired share.
  5. Right-click on the department folder and select ANY of the options below:
    • Map as Drive – Select your department folder (without right-clicking) then select the Easy Access from the Windows Explorer Menu window, then select Map as Drive:
      • Accept the default settings in the Window that appears by clicking the Finish button, or change the drive letter first if you prefer.
      • This mapped drive will now show in the ‘Network Locations’ within the ‘This PC’ window.
    • Pin to Quick Access – Adds it to the left window pane in any Windows Explorer window
    • Pin to Start – Adds an icon in your Windows Start menu
    • Create Shortcut – Creates a shortcut on your desktop

On a Mac

Connect to Server:

 

  1. Under the ‘Go’ menu at the top of your screen select ‘Connect to Server…’ or use the shortcut: ‘Command ⌘ – K’
  2. Type in the Filestore SMB address: smb://filestore.haverford.edu
  3. Click the ‘plus’ at the bottom left of the screen if you wish to save the address for future use.
  4. Enter in your Haverford username and password
